we soooo don’t agree on this. stealing is stealing no matter how cute or funny a comic might be.
Well, the comic itself is about trying to rent an audio book online from a library and how rightsholders and distributors make it so ridiculously difficult to access their material, which the end-use is getting for free anyway, that it drives people to piracy.
I don’t really advocate stealing but I don’t think IP holders should punish their customers for the actions of people who are going to get your material for free no matter what DRM you try to implement
DRM only hurts law abiding people. If I go to borders and buy a book, I have every right to loan that book to you. If I buy a CD, I can loan that to you as well. With DRM, that is no longer possible.
I don’t burn copies of my CDs or photocopy by books to give away. However, there are times that I like to borrow a CD to find out if I like it before buying it.
The only reason DRM is still around is because it increases sales for the distributor. If my computer crashes, I lose everything because I’m not smart enough to keep my computer backed up. That means that I have to go buy the music again. That is why I still buy the CD and then upload that to the computer.
